Call for volunteers
As part of their support for the Homes for Ukraine scheme, South Cambridge District Council are working together with Cambridge University to develop some informal opportunities for Ukrainian guests to develop their English language skills. Sessions will be drop-in, café style events, where bi-lingual volunteers can chat informally to Ukrainian guests on any mutually agreeable topic, to help them practice their conversational English.
If you are fluent in English and Ukrainian (or have at least a working knowledge of conversational Ukrainian) and would like to volunteer, please let us know. Pilot sessions initially will take place in Waterbeach (at St John the Evangelist Church – Station Rd, Waterbeach, CB25 9HT) on Mondays 6-7.30pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm at the Waterbeach church. Refreshments will be provided and travel expenses covered. Dates and times are currently being finalised. If you think you can offer some time once a week or once a fortnight to help, please let us know your contact details and your availability on weekdays, evenings and weekends and we will pass your details to the South Cambridge team.
(Please note that, in line with GDPR regulations, by submitting your contact details you agree for us to share your details with South Cambridge District Council)
